Optimal RAP Content for Minnesota Gravel Roads

Status:  Active
Project Start Date:  06/23/2014

Summary:

Study will assess recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) as a material to reduce dust and wash boarding, and its effects on road performance. Economic comparison will be conducted to determine whether it is economically feasible to use RAP for unpaved roads instead of in asphalt roads. Other objectives are to determine the optimal RAP content for unpaved roads and develop a design guide for using RAP for aggregate roads.
