Evaluation of a Central Traffic Signal System and Best Practices for Implementation

Summary:

The purpose of this project is to develop the tools and methodologies for extracting Intersection Control Information (ICI) from MnDOT's Central Traffic Signal Control System (CTSCS) and Signal Performance Measure (SPM) applications, along with analyzing the available information from metro area counties and cities to ensure uniformity and storage format efficiency on a regional and statewide basis. These methods and tools will be used for the development of a Regional Database of Unified Intersection Control Information (RDUICI) to facilitate availability to projects modeling the impact of MnDOT's construction projects, as well as lay the groundwork for future requests of signal timing data with the emergence of arterial performance measures and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) applications.
