Development of Pavement Condition Forecasting for Web-based Asset Management for County Governments

Status:  Active
Project Start Date:  06/26/2018

The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute at North Dakota State University, has developed a low-cost asset inventory program for North Dakota counties called the Geographic Roadway Inventory Tool (GRIT). The GRITwill eventually be offered to all Minnesota counties after further testing and development in select Minnesota counties through this research project. The asset inventory program was created as the first step for asset management to allow local roadway managers to document and understand their existing infrastructure using the latest mobile technology and Geographic Information System (GIS). This research project will expand the program to include roadway forecasting based on the AASHTO 93 model with inventory, pavement condition and traffic forecasting data.
