Allowable Permit Weights
Allowable Group Weights During Spring Load Restrictions

  • Weights shown must be divided equally over all axles within the group and only apply to state trunk highways.  With some exceptions, less weight is allowed on county, city, and township roads.  Most of those roads are 9 ton except during SLR when they are 5 ton.
  • Middle-range maximum overweight permits are available within each frost zone starting when spring load restrictions are lifted.  Use of these permits ends when winter load increases are removed the following year.
  • Full-summer maximum overweight permits are available within each frost zone starting two to three weeks after spring load restrictions are lifted.  Use of these permits ends when winter load increases are removed the following year.
